Answer:

In today’s world, some businesses still recognise the importance of wearing  uniforms in the workplace. Wearing uniforms sets employees apart from the customers or visitors in the company. Although work clothes have various benefits, there are drawbacks to it, as well. This essay aims to explore the advantages and disadvantages of wearing uniforms and also identify workplaces that it is necessary.

Uniforms are more than just a piece of clothing with colour to distinguish workers of various work assignments. Many businesses acknowledge the advantages of wearing uniforms at work. Firstly, uniforms help workers appear disciplined and cohesive. It inculcate employees a feeling of belonging at work. Secondly, In high-risk industries, uniforms can also provide safety benefits such as wearing of protective coveralls which is made to withstand through flame. However, there are other employees against the compulsion of wearing uniform. Flight attendants for example, they are required to wear high heels as part of their uniforms. Although wearing it may look presentable but it causes discomfort and unhealthy. Similarly, workers that wear coveralls has to deal with troubles during restroom breaks. When responding to a call of nature, they need to completely remove the garments. 

Oftentimes, some of the most fulfilling professions require to wear uniform including those in medicine, police personnel, firefighters and down to fast food chain. This piece of clothing can enhance physical appearance that can help identify a person’s status, occupation and authority. There are many occupations that need to wear uniforms but those in law enforcement professions are highly required. Police officer, for instance, the uniform of a police officer represents public order and conveys the power and authority as society’s protector. Likewise, providing uniform  to security officers in both public and private areas will serves as a crime deterrent. Having a uniformed law enforcement on the premises promotes peace of mind to the public. 

In summary, implementing a uniforms in workplaces has its fair share of advantages and disadvantages. Nevertheless, uniforms can promote sense of belonging to an organisations and can evoke perceptions of trust to law enforcers.
