Speaking section of IELTS test is quite frightening. Some test takers are often get nervous on the test day. Feeling nervous is completely normal, you just need to practice some nerve-bustling strategies such as breathing and thinking positively. You shouldn’t allow nerves to stop you from getting your desired band score. After all, questions are mostly about you so no need to get nervous.

Part 1: Introduction & Interview

1. Do you have any unhealthy habits?

Yes. I do. Perhaps the most concerning unhealthy habits that I developed is staring at a computer screen for extended periods of time daily. Many says that staring at screens can result in visual issues including eye strain and dryness of eyes caused by a lack of blinking.

2. What do you do to stay healthy?

Well, our eyes are an important part of our health. Looking after the protection of my eyesight is one of my most important healthy habits that I try to develop. There are several steps which I followed such as looking away from the computer screen, wearing safety glasses or protective goggles when needed and eating more green leafy vegetables that are rich in nutrients.

3. In your opinion, what is more important, eating healthy food or doing exercises?

Obviously, when we think of ways to losing weight, exercise is the first thing that comes in our minds. But, according to the experts, eating healthy food will have a far greater impact in our physical improvement goals than going to the gym. In my opinion, however, eating well and exercise are both important parts of losing fat and changes in our body composition.

Part 2: Individual long turn

IELTS Cue Card/ Candidate Task Card.

Describe your (or your friend’s) illness or injury experience. You should say:

  • What was it
  • When did it happen
  • How did you (or your friend) handled it

and say how do you feel about it now.

I will talk about my sport injury that I sustained when we played basketball in our company’s compound. It happened last year when we had a basketball tournament in our company. I was poked in the eye when I went up for a rebound that accidentally scratched my cornea. The poke causes pain immediately after the incident. Fortunately, ophthalmologist or eye-doctor were able to handle the treatment of the bleeding inside my eye. The treatment was successful

and I was thrilled with the positive result from the treatment of the affected eye. The healing period did not take longer than expected and after few days the infection completely healed. I feel my eye is more comfortable now with the help of antibiotic drops given by my optometrist.

Part 3: Two way discussion

5. Do you think health is important?

Being healthy should be part of our central goals in our lives. Personal health is extremely important because it give us strength when we feel tired. Health problems can cause limitations on the physical activities and even jeopardize our ability to earn a living.

6. What types of activities do you think help people stay healthy?

For me, a long-term regular exercise program definitely helped people stay healthy. But if someone struggle to go to health club, the daily household chores such as cleaning bathrooms, doing laundry and playing with children-if done on a regular basis still provide equal benefits as intense workouts in the gym. However, diet, rest and exercise still the pillars of good health.

7. What is the difference between physical health and mental health?

Physical health is the overall physical condition of our body while mental health refers to the well-being of an individual’s emotional, social and psychological levels. There is a strong link between the two that if may swing out of balance, an individual will suffer.

8. Would you say modern science and technology has more of a positive or a negative influence on people’s health?

Technological innovations is always morphing and expanding. Every time there is new inventions enters the market, it can have some potential to improve the lives. However, it also has the potential to negatively affect on individual’s health. In my opinion, the benefits of modern science and technology go far beyond the negative.
